Simple Ways Your Business Can “Go Green” and Save Green

Go Green

Being “Green” used to be a buzzword companies used to promote their products, however, it’s becoming increasingly evident that adopting more environmentally responsible practices doesn’t just benefit the environment, but also can positively impact your bottom line.

Using renewable sources of energy such as solar, wind or geothermal are great options and should absolutely be considered. Of equal importance are the everyday changes that every company can make to reduce their impact on the environment.

We’ve pulled together a few suggestions to “Go Green” and save green!

  1. Buy remanufactured ink and toner cartridges, and recycle your used in cartridges. If your supplier doesn’t offer these products or offer a recycling program, seek out one that does.
  2. Use Post-Consumer Recycled Content (PCR) paper and recycle your used paper.
  3. Think before you print – there are numerous digital options available to cut down on the use of paper and toner.
  4. When replacing office equipment, go for those with an Energy Star rating. Most of these power down when not in use, which saves energy.
  5. Start replacing your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents.
  6. Start a recycling program in your office for all recyclable products. Encourage your coworkers to bring garbageless lunches for a week, opting for reusable containers.
  7. Before you throw out furniture or office equipment, try to recycle it first. Check with local non-profit groups or schools to see if they take donations.
  8. Look for suppliers that take back packaging and reuse it.
  9. Wherever possible, buy local. This doesn’t just support your local economy, but also cuts down on the fuel costs associated with your purchase.
  10. Encourage a car-pooling program among your employees.

These little changes do add up! We’d love to hear what green initiatives you’ve implemented!
