Established as a permanent military post in 1877, the historic Fort Missoula has had its fair share of construction and remodels since the late 1800s and into recent years. While it’s decades of housing and training military personnel is behind it, the storied past of the Fort Missoula compound lives on in the robust museum and well-preserved site that is enjoyed by visitors to Missoula, Montana and locals alike.
In recent years, Axiom Engineering Group team members were honored to provide engineering design efforts for this staple historical site. Providing updates to outdated building systems, such as humidity and temperature control, is a challenging but utterly necessary step in the historical preservation of older structures. This is especially pertinent in environments that house critical artifacts and exhibits or have regular visitors, such as the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula. Building longevity, safety, efficiency, and comfort are key considerations in the engineering of historical renovations, all while safekeeping the historical significance of existing structures.
Axiom Engineering Group is proud to be known as an industry leader in crafting bespoke and thoughtful solutions to any engineering needs, including historical preservation, museum building systems, temperature and humidity control, and so much more.
