Radiant Heat vs. Furnace
Furnaces play a prominent role in the heating of many homes and businesses throughout the country. Although these units may provide the heat necessary during the cold winter months, furnaces may be considered obsolete in nearly every way when compared to radiant heat. The innovative designs of the 21st century are greatly surpassing technologies of the 1900s, and your home or office space may be inefficient.
Filters and Air Quality
Blower furnaces require the intake of cool air in order to produce warm air through ventilation ducts. Even with new filters, the furnace may recycle dust and other particulates into the breathable air in any given room. If there are cleaning supplies or any other chemicals sitting next to the furnace, noxious fumes can be delivered to every area within the establishment as well.
Radiant heating doesn’t have the complications of recycled air. Instead of blowing warm air to various rooms, pipework within walls and/or floors simply heat up the surrounding area. For asthmatics, this is a much safer way to breath in the home or business.
Blocked Ductwork
If there is an object covering the vent, warm air cannot heat the room while using a traditional furnace. Objects can fall into vents or otherwise create a blockage reducing the efficiency of this appliance. Dust, dirt, toys, car keys and more can become lost in the ventilation system.
As radiant heat does not utilize the same kind of ventilation system, there is nothing to restrict a room from becoming warmer. Instead of worry about the couch or filing cabinet covering a vent, radiant heat allows you to decorate the home or office in any way you see fit.
Property Value Increases
In some areas, investing in geothermal radiant heat can increase the property value of an establishment beyond what traditional HVAC systems provide. While a furnace doesn’t usually impact the value of a location, modern radiant heating could increase the monetary value of your biggest asset – the building itself.
Even Heating of Rooms
While using a ventilation heating system, heat may be disproportionately distributed within any given room. It could take a long time for the area opposite of the vent to become heated. Radiant heating systems provide a total coverage heating the room evenly.
These are just a few practical reasons as to why radiant heating is more ideal than 20th-century methods. Whether you need a cost-saving, energy efficient alternative or looking to increase the value of your property, radiant heating may be the solution for which you’re looking.
